We've funded an inspirational careers project for children in a number of primary schools across Merseyside.

The award-winning Raising Aspirations programme, developed by Positive Footprints, aims to get pupils thinking about their futures and help them discover personal skills, qualities and passions.

Gas Tag partnered with Positive Footprints to deliver the programme in nine schools across the region as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) work.

To celebrate the start of the partnership a special launch event was held at one of the schools, Whitefield Primary. On the day representatives from Gas Tag took part in a special assembly to meet the pupils and talk to guests about why the organisation was funding the programme.

Following the assembly, our staff took part in a career carousel event where the children met with a number of organisations to find out about the different careers available within the world of work. Companies taking part included WWF, LFC Foundation, Altru Drama, Redwing Living and Merseyside Police.

Guy Murphy, PR and Communications Manager at Gas Tag, said: “We are delighted to be able to fund this award-winning programme and help raise the aspirations of young people across Merseyside.”

“Liverpool is not always the first place people think of when they talk about tech, and so it is great to speak to the pupils in schools across the city to let them know about the opportunities on their doorstep.”

“We’re looking forward to working closely with Positive Footprints over the coming months.”

Lesley Burrows, Managing Director of Positive Footprints, said: “We believe that brilliant things happen when you bring schools and businesses together and we’re delighted that Gas Tag has become one our fantastic Aspirations Partners. They’re truly investing in the future of the area and we’re so excited about the fantastic opportunities this will bring to children across these schools.”

Jill Wright, Headteacher at Whitefield Primary School said: "Working with Positive Footprints and Gas Tag has been absolutely brilliant for the children of this school. It raises their aspirations, it gives them a view of the world of work, of the kinds of jobs and careers they might want to go into, the kinds of opportunities that are available to them.

'Being able to meet lots of different people at the careers fair and actually look at all the resources go hand in hand with higher education opportunities. It’s the best possible thing we can do to raise aspirations for our children."
